Hitachinokuni Sosyagu Reitaisai Festival
Ishioka festival is the one of three larger festivals in the Kantō region. This annual festival of the Hitachinokuni Sosyagu Reitaisai (Hitachinokuni Main Shrine) usually takes place on the third Saturday to Monday, yearly in September (9/15- 9/17 in 2018). The festival is about praying for an abundant harvest and prosperity, and also it is important for all of us in the Ishioka city community to participate in order to bless our traditions and development. Over the three day period, nearly 400 thousand people make a trip to Ishioka city to enjoy a sacred event as well as an energetic and cultured environment. Ishioka is a city located in the central part of Ibaraki Prefecture, the northern Kantō region of Japan (about 80 km/50mile northeast of Tokyo).
Saiwai-cho is one of the districts in Ishioka and is formerly known as Hitachikokufuchu Saiwai-cho (one of capitals of the historical local provinces of Japan), and is located in the silent landscape of Koise riverside where there is a panoramic view of Mt. Tsukuba.
